フッ素化合物は、フッ素原子が醸し出す特異な性質により、医薬?農薬、並びに液晶等の機能性材料として注目を浴びています。特に、フッ素原子の電気陰性度の大きさや炭素-フッ素結合の強さから、フッ素を含まない化合物群と比較した場合の生物活性の飛躍的向上、代謝の阻害、材料強度の向上などの様々な機能が期待できます。フッ素化合物の社会的ニーズは年々高まっています。本研究では、異分野交流を通じた多角的なアプローチで、フッ素系新材料の創製とその応用に取り組みます。

Breakthrough and New Development of Fluorinated Materials for Innovative Applications (F-Materials).

Fluorine-containing compounds are the substances of considerable interest in diverse fields of science such as pharmaceutical, agrochemicals, and liquid crystalline and polymers and so on. Incorporation of fluorine and fluorine-containing groups often endows organic molecules with the medicinal actions as well as chemical, physical, and biological properties. The specific properties of fluorine derived from the high electronegativity furnish chemical compounds with new and advanced qualities. The replacement of hydrogen by fluorine leads to the smallest steric perturbation available to us. In particular, fluorine is often introduced to increase lipophilicity and stability; these unique properties are otherwise difficult to obtain. Due to tremendous demands in the fields of technology, new development of fluorine compounds has been required. Our research project aims to create superb fluorinated materials and their functions based on multidirectional approaches.
