International students face a variety of problems and concerns while living, studying, and conducting research in Japan.
The Global Initiatives Center (GIC) has established the Online International Student Counseling Room, where international student advisors and GIC faculty members are available to provide various consultations to international students.
The Online International Student Counseling Room receives a variety of consultations. For example, there are “school counseling” regarding Japanese language and daily study methods, “health counseling” regarding poor health, insomnia, illness, and anxiety about surgery, “employment counseling” regarding employment or research, returning to Japan or staying in Japan, and support for actual job hunting, and “psychological counseling” such as feeling unmotivated because of the constant reminders of home.
In addition to providing consultation on problems and concerns unique to international students who live and study in a foreign country away from their own country, the office also provides consultation services for Japanese students who are involved with international students.
The Online International Student Counseling Room works in cooperation with the General Health Support Center and the Gunma University Hospital to help resolve health and mental health issues.
